Root Canal Treatments in Albuquerque for Healthy Smiles
Compassionate Care from Our Albuquerque Dental Team
When the enamel of a tooth becomes damaged, your dentist may recommend filling, sealant, or other options to protect the tooth and keep it healthy. Teeth, however, do not only consist of enamel—there are deeper, more vulnerable layers that, if damaged or infected, require treatment. Most typically, a root canal procedure is the most reliable option.
If you believe that one or more of your teeth has sustained serious damage, then Dental House is ready to hear from you. At our offices, we believe in a patient-centric approach to dentistry to that puts patient care, comfort, and options first. Our compassionate Albuquerque family dentist is ready to assess your mouth and provide you with trusted, long-term solutions on the forefront of oral health science.
Come as patients, leave as family—that's the Dental House way. Contact our offices at (505) 835-2322 today to schedule a treatment. Saturday appointments are available.
What to Expect During Your Root Canal Treatment
There are three major layers to every tooth: the outer enamel that we brush every day, the inner enamel we call dentin, and the center layer: dental pulp. The dental pulp is critical to the health of your tooth and your mouth. It contains nerves and blood vessels that run down the root canals within your teeth and connect with your jaw.
When teeth suffer significant damage, this pulp can become exposed and vulnerable to bacteria, infection, and inflammation. A root canal procedure can treat this issue and re-establish tooth integrity.
The basic steps of a root canal treatment include:
- Numbing the affected tooth
- Widening the opening to the dental pulp
- Removing all dental pulp, including from each root canal
- Filling and sealing the tooth (and canals)
- Installing a temporary filling
- Installing a permanent crown or filling
The root canal process is involved and, in many cases, requires more than one visit to your dentist. There may also be prescriptions involved to prevent infection.
Your Comfort is Our Priority at Dental House
At Dental House, we know that few patients anticipate the need for a root canal treatment and that any significant dental work can be an interruption to one's life. That is why we place so much attention on patient comfort and care. Our team is prepared to walk you through your root canal treatment and ensure that it is completed as swiftly and effectively as possible.
